Selling agent Grant Giordano, of Giordano and Partners, said the property, known as Midway Park, was an enticing offering for buyers.

“We’re already getting interest from a variety of different parties, ranging from garden enthusiasts to large families who want to save the plants,” he said.

“We’ve also heard from buyers who are looking at using the home as a weekend escape … and we have a few interested parties flying in this week from interstate.

“They all have different ideas on what they want to do with the property and the garden but also like that it’s only seven minutes from the CBD.”

The estate’s history dates back to the late 19th century, with the property’s Victorian return-veranda villa built in circa 1890, when it was known as ‘the Lord’s House’, so called because it was home for 30 years to the Lord family.

The house and surrounding acres subsequently changed hands several times over the years, with other former owners including Dr Roger Angove, a prominent Adelaide physician.

Dr Angove eventually sold the property to real estate agent Bill Henderson, who finalised a subdivision of the land.

In 2005, the property was acquired by Mr Middleton and it was he who cultivated the existing gardens as they stand today.

He also oversaw an extensive restoration of the four-bedroom, three-bathroom home, which now offers ornate feature parquetry down a vast and grand entrance hall, accentuated by three character-laden architraves, decadent chandeliers and towering 3.6m ceilings.

Mr Giordano said Midway Park had been immaculately preserved.

“(Middleton) did a tremendous amount of renovation,” he said.

“The home now has a brand new roof and the internals have been entirely redone.

“It also overlooks a simply magnificent garden setting, creating an inner-suburban ambience reminiscent of the Adelaide Hills.”

The home, which is being sold without a price guide, also features a formal drawing room, a lined cellar, a dedicated home cinema and a large separate studio, which offers valuable dual entry.

Rosslyn Park has a median house price of $1.445m, according to PropTrack.
