REAL estate agents are known for earning the big bucks, but one big ticket Brisbane agent is giving some of hers away.

Prestige property agent Elisa McMahon is putting her money where her mouth is for The Epic Giving Gala which is raising funds for Women’s Legal Service Queensland to support women impacted by domestic violence.

Known across Brisbane’s inner north for a number of top-end home sales, Ms McMahon is offering to donate the commission she would normally pocket for the sale of a property over $2m to Women’s Legal Service Queensland.
That means a $6m property sale could garner a complimentary commission equivalent to $165,000.

It comes as powerhouse agent takes up a new role at ATLAS after a tenure at Adcock Prestige.

Ms McMahon said being able to give back to a worthy cause meant a lot to her.

“I’ve come from very humble beginnings and I provide a wonderful life for my family and I,” she said.

“Women coming out of domestic violence situations and want to make a change for the better is really important to me.
“I’m making the contribution to the Women’s Legal Service so they can turn their life around and create opportunities for themselves.

“It makes me emotional thinking about it — if I have the capacity to help these women, I want to give them a hand.

“This is a prize I’m giving up where I have demonstrated that the winner will benefit when they sell their property.”

Co-event organiser and journalist Brendan Smith said alongside his partner Brendon Mann they would be running the gala.

“Elisa has always been such a big supporter of the gala and she’s a domestic violence advocate,” Mr Smith said.

“We’re are absolutely thrilled and know what a difference the prize will make for so many families across Queensland.

“The auction item is unique, so many people will be bidding for it and is an amazing opportunity to whoever bids for it.

$20,000 worth of reserve funds will be payable to Women’s Legal Service’s Queensland within 48 hours of the auction.

The gala will be taking place at 309 Herston Rd, Herston on August 19 at 10pm.
