HOLDING out until Spring to list their latest project has paid off for Drew and Larissa Ezzy.

The couple has just sold the brand new home they built for a new suburb record — and it took just 12 hours.

“We couldn’t believe it,” Mr Ezzy said. “It didn’t even make it to the first open home, it was awesome!

This property at 61 Prince St, Virginia, sold in 12 hours for a new suburb record of $2.45 million.

“We were waiting for Spring (to list) as we knew that was probably the best time to launch.”

The five-bedroom, three-bathroom house at 61 Prince St, Virginia, fetched $2.45 million.

The last highest sale in the suburb was in December 2021, when a house in Royal Street sold for $2.285 million.

Tyson Clarke of Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty.

The Ezzys bought the original home for $1.05 million in 2021, before undertaking a major rebuild.

Selling agent Tyson Clarke of Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty said the property sold to a local buyer who wasted no time making a cash unconditional offer.

“It went online on Wednesday afternoon and was sold by lunchtime the next day,” Mr Clarke said.

“Somebody was going to fly in from Canberra who was deadset on getting it, but he didn’t get the chance.”

It comes as new figures from PropTrack show new listings are down more than 10 per cent in Brisbane compared to the same time a year ago, fuelling buyer competition.

The Ezzys have been buying, renovating and selling properties for profit for the past eight years, but considered keeping this one as their forever home.

“It’s a very liveable, nice house. It has that Queenslander feel — but I don’t want to keep working until I’m 70,” Mr Ezzy said.

“We thought Virginia was just an industrial estate, but a block came up for sale at the back of Wavell (Heights), north to the rear, and the perfect corner block, so we just thought building on it would attract a decent figure.”

Given the success, they have decided to do their next project in Virginia.
