The tree-lining outside 2 Bertha Street, Kalinga captivates buyers before they step through the elegant home.

For property owners Julie-Anne and Chris Navybox, rebuilding their home over Covid came with a string of challenges due to being locked down in Sydney, to achieve their pristine finished product.

They purchased their four-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 2 Bertha Street, Kalinga, in 2019 and completely gutted and transformed the inside to its high-end prestige finishes.

“It’s a home where its finishes go above and beyond. We wanted really high-quality fixtures. We completely gutted and rebuilt the home,” Mrs Navybox said.

“It’s a fantastic entertainer. We’ve had many functions and lots of people around as we have an abundance of entertaining space.

“We’re going to miss the beautiful leafy outlook and quiet family orientated area. You can take a short stroll to Kalinga Park.”

During the renovation process, Mr and Mrs Navybox were in New South Wales during the Covid lockdowns and were forced to do the planning remotely.

“We did most of the renovations before moving into the house. We had one of our sons working on-site at the time, and he was able to keep us updated while we were in lockdown,” she said.

“The renovation turned out great. It is truly amazing.”

Mrs Navybox said she and her husband want to do another house project next.

“We definitely want to do the same thing again. We want to get an older style home and do it up to a very high standard and quality,” she said.

“We love creating lovely, beautiful spaces to live in, the challenge of being creative, and seeing that all come together.

“I hope the new buyers love the home as much as we do. It’s a comfortable home to live in and where you want to be, and invite your friends and family.”

Director of Cohen Handler, Jordan Navybox, said the home had generated much interest.

“It is one of the most viewed properties on realestate.com.au. I bought the property for my parents before the renovation; they were stuck in Sydney during Covid lockdowns and making many decisions,” Mr Navybox said.

“December has seen an abnormally strong market because many buyers couldn’t find what they were looking for this spring. For buyers, having the security of knowing where they’re going before Christmas is really important.

“This home has one of the best street appeals I’ve seen in a house, and it’s a charming family home catered for small and larger family functions.”

Property agent Tyson Clarke from Sotheby’s International Realty said the campaign had gone well.

“The property is an iconic home; the whole area knows it. It exerts a certain elegance of high quality. The buyers want a nice big home with a space for a yard. We’ve also seen young executive-type families with little ones trying to get into the highly sought-after Eagle Junction catchment,” Mr Clarke said.

“Overall, the home presents well; buyers can feel themselves living in it. It feels like it was built yesterday.”

“The market is feeling quite buoyant leading into 2024. The market has been rallying strongly; we’re now entering new territory. We’re seeing lots of demand with interstate buyers coming from Melbourne. I’ve had video walk-throughs lined up. There is a lot going on.”
