Dolphins players splash out on property in Moreton Bay region

THEY made an unexpected splash when they beat the Sydney Roosters 28-18 in their inaugural game last weekend.

And it would seem the Dolphins, the NRL’s newest team, are in for the long haul with supercoach Wayne Bennett, with at least five players buying up local real estate in the past 12 months.

The latest acquisition was an updated house at Newport on the Redcliffe Peninsula, just five minutes from Kayo Stadium at Kippa-Ring north of Brisbane.

Publicly available property records show that it was purchased by 27-year-old centre Euan Aitken and his wife Kirsty Costello, nurse and founder of lingerie label, Ramolli, for $1.2m just before Christmas, with the contract settling on January 27.

The couple married in December and the four-bedroom house (below), on a 610sq m block, has plenty of room to start a family, with open-plan living spaces, soaring raked ceilings, a modern kitchen and a large alfresco entertaining area.

But the newlyweds are not the only couple who have laid down local roots.

Halfback Kodi Nikorima and wife Bree Tobler, a registered nurse, bought a modern stunner at North Lakes (below) for $1.175m in October 2021.

Nikorima also has a house at Mango Hill which he bought for $575,000 in 2016.

Prop Jesse Bromwich, the former co-captain of the Storm, and his wife Lezyola, and their three boys, splurged $1.625m on a six-bedroom Hamptons-style acreage residence at Burpengary East in June last year.

The “entertainer’s dream” (below) has an outdoor kitchen, a pool, firepit and a playground and sits on a secure 3000sq m block.

Meanwhile, prop Mark Nicholls and wife Perrie, a pilates instructor, bought a more modest house (below) for $810,000 in Scarborough in March last year, with the property settling in May.

The couple have two children and the brick and tile cottage sits on a 706sq m block.

The Dolphins are Queensland’s fourth NRL team, with all Sunshine States winning their first games of the new season last weekend.

They will go up against the Canberra Raiders tomorrow night with a home ground advantage.

The game at Kayo Stadium will kick off at 4.30pm.
