Wild Rift Volibear is a tank with area of effect abilities that allow him to deal solid damage as a front line tank. Although he has yet to release, by using previous knowledge of his kit from League of Legends alongside the item meta from Wild Rift, a general build can be created for the champion.

Without much further ado, here is a Wild Rift Volibear build, going over the potential best items, ability upgrades, and runes for the upcoming new champion.

Wild Rift Volibear: Recommended item build

Volibear’s scaling perform best when building a mix of HP alongside ability damage. This is because most of his abilities scale with ability power outside of his second ability alongside maximum health. Therefore, the recommended item build centers around this concept.

  • Sunfire Aegis
  • Plated Steelcaps → Gargoyle enchant
  • Iceborn Gauntlet
  • Amaranth Twinguard
  • Spirit Visage
  • Thornmail

Of course, adjust the build according to enemy match ups. And when playing from ahead, more AP optimization may perform well, such as building Riftmaker. Keep in mind, this build as of now is purely speculative. It will be updated once the champion officially releases.

Wild Rift Volibear: Recommended runes

The runes for Wild Rift Volibear are that of a rather standard tank. Taking Grasp of the Undying is a great keystone for those wanting to opt for short trades, while attempting to scale into a larger behemoth during the mid to late stages of the game.

As for the rest, they’re mostly optimized to help provide more lane utility — especially Demolish, which drastically increases Volibear’s split push power.

Take Sky Splitter level one. This is because Sky Splitter (3) is a great tool for early lane pressure and priority, allowing Volibear to wave clear while hindering the enemy laner. For level two, take Thundering Smash (1) for a more reliable method to deal damage. But after, prioritize upgrading Frenzied Maul (2) for maximum trade potential.
