Sure, we saw Blastoise in the beta for Pokemon Unite, but since then we’ve seen precious little. Blastoise (the best Kanto Starter) is the only one not featured in Pokemon Unite right now. Since the launch of Pokemon Unite, Blastoise’s moveset and holowear have also been revealed via data mining. There’s a very good chance we could see the water-cannon-packing turtle in Pokemon Unite! It was really disappointing that Blastoise wasn’t in the game at launch, but we had plenty of awesome Pokemon at launch. So what do we know about Blastoise?

What Can Blastoise Do?

Blastoise felt very tanky in Pokemon Unite, that’s for sure. To have a ranged tank could be a lot of fun. After looking at its attacks, I’m not convinced it would be a Defender. It does have a stun though, and a slow, as well as a knock-back. Anytime I get hyped up for a new tank in a game, they wind up as an assassin or mage or something. However, we do know what the current data mining revealed for Blastoise:

Blastoise’s Moveset:

  • Torrent: When at Half HP, Blastoise gains Attack and SP. Attack damage.

Level 1-3 Moves:

  • Water Gun
  • Skull Bash

Level 5 Moves:

  • Hydro Pump: Shoots a stream of water that knocks back enemies. The enemy that gets knocked back the furthest is stunned.
  • Water Spout: Shoots water at a location. This slows all enemies in that area for the duration of the move.

Level 7 Moves:

  • Surf: Charging forward on a wave, Blastoise knocks back enemies in your path, stunning them.
  • Rapid Spin: Blastoise retracts into his shell, strengthening his basic attacks and spraying moves.

Ultimate Move

  • Hydro Typhoon: Blastoise spins and knocks back enemies in a large area, while also spouting water. He also gains a shield while using the move.

We’ve also seen a leak for some holowear (skins) for Pokemon Unite, courtesy of LordLax. One of them is Blastoise in a snazzy vest and hat. He looks like he’s on vacation. On a personal level, I’m far more excited about Snorlax in a Pineapple costume, the Blastoise holowear could mean he’s on the way. We already received Gardevoir in July, at the end of the month. This leads us to think that we could hopefully expect Blastoise towards mid/late August. TiMi Studios teased that Blastoise and Gardevoir would be next, so they will probably show up back-to-back. We can’t wait though, and Blastoise will complete the Kanto trio of starters.
