Sure, people talk about wanting an esports team, but MoistCr1Tikal did more than just talk. Yesterday, a tweet went out from Charles “MoistCr1Tikal” White Jr. (almost known as penguinz0) has had amazing success in the world of content creation. From hilarious commentary to quality topical analysis, he’s a major name in the world of streaming and online content creation. 3.8 billion video views are nothing to sneeze at. This is a very interesting move from MoistCr1Tikal and we’re fascinated to see where the esports team, Moist Esports goes from here. We can confirm he’s already recruited a Smash player, Kola.

Kola, Formerly Known as Salt One, Joins Moist Esports

Salt One, now known as Kola is the first player to join MoistCr1Tikal’s new esports team. It’s not like MoistCr1Tikal doesn’t have the audience and income to start a team. He has over eight million YouTube subs and three million Twitch followers. It’s interesting that he started with Smash though. Perhaps it’s because Smash doesn’t require a huge team, nor does it require expensive setups to practice. Kola plays Roy and Cloud in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, and he also apparently has a decent Snake. Kola isn’t a player that’s come out of nowhere either.

He’s known as the best Roy player in the world, and one of the two best Cloud players in the world. He has a lengthy list of solid placements in Smash tournaments in Melee, Smash for Wii U, and Smash Ultimate. In the announcement on Twitter, MoistCr1Tikal said Kola’s trying to get into Smash Ultimate Summit 3, and Kola’s one of the players that can be voted in

So far, it sounds like it’s a positive reaction for Kola and Moist Esports. Frankly, Smash Bros. needs all the positive PR it can get right now, with the last year of negative news coming from players behaving badly. Kola’s also a recognized talent in the Smash Bros. scene, so it’s nice that MoistCr1Tikal has put this spotlight on a quality player in the scene. There’s no telling who he will pick up next. The Smash Ultimate Summit 3 begins on August 26th, and this could be a huge way to make a mark as a new esports team.
