Jo and Andrew Hocking aren’t just selling a home, they’re selling a lifestyle sought after by many in the Top End.

With children now grown, the couple decided it was the right time to let go of their 4100sq m property at 11 Squatter Rd, Marlow Lagoon.

The big block comes with a five-bedroom home, huge shed, pool, fire pit area, fruit orchard and even a chook pen with laying hens.

Mrs Hocking said this was the first time the property was being offered to the market since she had it built 18 years ago.

“When I bought (the block) it was to have that outdoor lifestyle so I could bring my kids up in an environment that offered rural living but still quite close to town,” she said.

“Here, you get this sense of freedom in the middle of suburbia.

“Everyone gets their own space and my children were able to ride their quad bikes, play with their mates, swim in the pool and not be stuck inside all the time.”

Mrs Hocking said the house was designed for family with open plan spaces, indoor-outdoor flow and plenty of outdoor living.

The home has a full length front veranda, double carport and a big patio out the back overlooking the in-ground swimming pool.

Inside the house there is an open plan living, dining and kitchen area opening to the patio.

The kitchen has an island bench with breakfast bar, modern appliances and big windows looking out to the entertaining area and pool.

The main bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe and ensuite, while three of the remaining bedrooms have built-in robes.

The fifth bedroom is oversized and could easily be used as a media room or play room.

The home also has an internal laundry, family bathroom and separate toilet.

The house has tiled floors, fans, airconditioning and louvres throughout, and comes with a 6.1kw solar system.

Outside there is a fire pit area, pool, established lawns and gardens with irrigation, and a solar-powered front gate.

Mr Hocking said the property came with everything you could want from a rural block.

“You can have your chooks, gardens, pool and fire pit,” he said.

“There’s even a tropical fruit orchard with a dozen or so different fruit trees.”

Mrs Hocking said the 14x12m shed with three-phase power was also a definite bonus.

The property is close to schools, shops and the Palmerston CBD.

“We’re on a no-through road, so it’s a quiet street, and you don’t have overhead powerlines either,” Mrs Hocking said.

“It’s probably one of the best streets in Marlow Lagoon.”
