Vendor Roger Vince, who counts Bernie Vince among one of his 13 grandkids, said the listing was as unique now as it was in 1970, when the property was last offered to the market.

“I used to play out there, on that land, as a child and it was always a very nice place, even back then. We used to call it the Olive Garden because that’s what grew out there,” he said.

“Then, some years later, a Farmers Union agent mentioned that (the property) was for sale … and I ended up running into the owner at the bank later that day.
“He told me to come out to have a look, do I did, and ended up making an offer.
“I did end up getting in trouble with the missus afterwards … and we didn’t live there at first because we couldn’t afford to build but then, 40 years ago or so, we did and it’s been very nice ever since.”

Located about a two-and-a-half hour drive from Adelaide, the property offers absolute beach frontage and 20.23ha of arable land, allowing for a solid income stream.

A conventional homestead features four bedrooms, a spacious open-plan kitchen and dining room, a formal lounge and an office.

The master bedrooms offers uninterrupted views across the Gulf St Vincent, while a sizeable shed offers plenty of room for the family car.

The sale also includes around 900 olive trees.

Mr Vince said the sale was regrettable but necessary.

“We’ve got 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren, so there are always kids running around the place because it’s such a great spot for the family,” he said.

“But we’re getting older, both my wife and I are 86, and managing the property is just becoming too much for us.”

Selling agent Lana Bennett, of Harris Real Estate, said she expected the listing to attract a diverse range of buyers.

“The property is so unique and really could be used for anything, including lifestyle or even as a development opportunity,” she said.

“At the moment, the land is used for cropping, but you could also run sheep and of course you’ve got the olive trees.

“So there really is a lot of potential there, especially considering how close it is to the township.”

Expression of Interest close Thursday, May 25 at noon, unless sold prior.
