An adobe-inspired home at the foot of the MacDonnell Ranges was the most viewed Territory listing on realestate.com.au last week.

The 2.3ha property at 53 Baldissera Drive, Ross, racked up more than 2,100 views on the real estate website since it was listed for sale on October 4 for $1.775 million.

Selling agent Gail Tuxworth, of LJ Hooker Alice Springs, said the property with pool and shed had been attracting strong interest locally.

“People have been saying the home is absolutely stunning,” she said.

“It’s at the high end of the market for Alice Springs, so we’re not expecting to sell overnight but there are always people around who like that rural seclusion.”

Ms Tuxworth said the sprawling home, with about 500sq m under roof, was designed around its sinks.

“The inspiration for the house came from when the original owner went to Mexico and bought these handpainted vanity basins,” she said.

“She built the house around those hand basins and the Mexican theme really dominates.”

The home has rendered brick walls, high, shadow line ceilings, archways with decorative tile and bold colours throughout.

There are five bedrooms, three bathrooms, a powder room and a laundry with mudroom.

There’s also a home cinema, music room, games room, formal dining room and an open plan living, dining and kitchen area.

“The beautiful desert-themed gardens and the lawns blend in with the surrounding bush that’s almost at the backdoor,” Ms Tuxworth said.
