Got a spare $1.1m? Streaming giant Netflix is looking to strike a deal with prospective buyers of a West Lakes home to help produce a new miniseries, based on a cult US drama.

A West Lakes home has caught the attention of streaming giant Netflix and could soon feature in a new miniseries based on hit western drama Yellowstone.

Harris selling agent Hayley Staltari, who is selling the three-bedroom property at 13 Liberman Court for $1.1m, said she received a call from Netflix on Friday, only hours after launching the property on realestate.com.au.

“We’ve had some really good interest from a mix of buyers, including Netflix,” she said.

“I had a call from them on Friday because they saw it and are filming a new mini series in Adelaide over October and November and they need a home that has exposed brick.

“So they’ve asked if they could use that house for filming … and have offered to pay $1700 a day.

“The show will be akin to the Australian Yellowstone, made famous by Kevin Costner, and will be called Desert King.

“They will film in the Northern Territory for the first three weeks, before coming down to Adelaide later this year.”

Ms Staltari said with Netflix looking to lease, not buy, the property, prospective buyers had a chance to have their new home cemented in movie history – all while pocketing a side income.

She said the show would also help shine a spotlight on West Lakes, which has already recorded 16.3 per cent house price growth over the past three years, according to PropTrack.

“West Lake is the only man-made lake of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere, so it’s something you can’t get anywhere else,” Ms Staltari said.

“Interestingly, we’re only now seeing a lot more interest in the suburb and there were certain buyers that wouldn’t even consider looking at West Lakes, including people from the eastern suburbs and interstate.

“But since Covid, there has been a real shift and I’ve sold two lakefront homes to eastern suburb buyers for use as a weekender for around $2m.”

While Ms Staltari does not expect the Liberman Court property to set a new price record for the suburb, interest – outside of Netflix – has been encouraging.

She said around 31 groups inspected the 846sq m property over the weekend, with its major drawcard being its large block size, generous layout and family-friendly surrounds.

The sale also includes a cubby house for the kids, which Ms Staltari said was giving the home a Barbie vibe.

“We had families who stayed for the whole open because the kids were playing in the cubby house,” she said.

“So it’s definitely a family home and has been for many years but it’s now being sold as the vendors are looking to downsize.”

Best offers close at noon on August 24.
