Universal Standards GRI (finaly) translated to Portuguese

The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, is the independent international organization that over the years has developed sustainability reporting standards, the so-called GRI Standards.

The GRI Standards are recognized as the best international practice for accounting for economic, social and environmental impacts, including human rights. According to the “KPMG Survey on Sustainability Reporting 2022”, 78% of the 250 largest companies in the world use the GRI Standards.

Despite the content being a world reference, the languages ​​in which the standards were available did not always allow for their wider use.

And here's the good news for Portuguese-speaking countries, especially Brazil: a few weeks ago the Universal GRI Standards were finally translated into Portuguese. The launch event for the translation into Portuguese of the Universal Standards GRI 2021 took place on December 7th, with the participation of GRI representatives, together with some of its partners in Brazil, such as the IBGC and Eletrobrás.

The translations include not only the GRI 1: Fundamentals 2021, GRI 2: General Contents 2021 and GRI 3: Material Themes 2021 but also sectoral GRIs such as

• GRI 11: Oil and Gas Sector 2021

• GRI 303: Water and Effluents 2018

• GRI 304: Biodiversity 2016

• GRI 302: Energy 2016

• GRI 306: Effluents and Waste 2016

• GRI 308: Environmental Assessment of Suppliers 2016

• GRI 402: Labor Relations 2016

• GRI 405: Diversity and Equal Opportunities 2016

• GRI 411: Rights of Indigenous Peoples 2016

• GRI 417: Marketing and Labeling 2016
