The tides are changing for an Ipswich suburb, previously notorious for its bad reputation after recording the highest price growth in the state in the past 12 months.

PropTrack data has revealed prices in Riverview have jumped 24 per cent so far in 2023 and show no signs of declining anytime soon.

But – despite the news, residents Bec Moser and Asher Misfud were surprised by Riverview’s price growth over the past year.

“We built our equity for our first property in Silkstone and purchased in Riverview earlier this year as the house ticked all our boxes. We definitely had building equity in mind for the future when purchasing our current home,” Ms Moser said.

“Where we’ve moved to is nice and quiet. It’s close to everything. We’ve got Redbank Plaza down the road.

“If you’re a first homebuyer looking to break into the market, Riverview is the perfect place to buy.”

Ms Misfud said Riverview’s accessibility was unmatched and made it a desirable and affordable suburb to move to.

“It’s only 30 minutes from the Brisbane CBD whether you travel by car or train. The roads out here are generally pretty good, but there’s always room to grow for the area,” she said.

“Bec and I saw Riverview’s potential growth and wanted to upgrade to a bigger family home. The area had a bad reputation before, but now it’s very safe and friendly. The only thing I would say that needs improving is the parks.

“A lot of the houses out here are from an older generation. I suspect we’ll see a lot of growth in the next five years.

Sales Associates and siblings from Ray White Ipswich Zoe and Jackson Wales said they really want prospective buyers to see the value Riverview has to offer.

“I don’t think buyers see Riverview for what it could be. I am forever trying to tell people to come out here and see what you can get for your money,” Ms Wales said.

“I’m not surprised that growth and interest in the area are growing; for 4 Sloane Street, Riverview, both Jackson and I had 24 people through the home and six offers on the property. Yes, it was a well-presented home, and we are telling our vendors if they want the best result, it is all about presentation.

“There is still lots of affordability out here in Riverview, and I think the best is yet to come for the suburb.”
