CryptoPunk has already made a name in the NFT space, but it appears it is not done yet with its milestone spree. This time, the famed NFT will be displayed at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami.

This means that CryptoPunk is the first-ever NFT that would be displayed in a major art museum, proof of its immense value in the world of arts.

The ICA Miami proudly tweeted: “ICA Miami is the first major art museum to acquire a CryptoPunk NFT, through a major gift from museum trustee Eduardo Burillo!”

CryptoPunk arrived before the NFT rise

The CryptoPunks collection, which is a collection of 10,000 unique 24-by-24 pixelated headshots, came before the rise of NFTs. The famous art was born in 2018 and has already attracted millions of dollars even before they were turned into Ethereum-powered digital assets.

The CryptoPunk 5293 is one of the pixelated headshots that were sold, and now, its NFT counterpart will be displayed at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami.

The ICA Miami said that displaying the CryptoPunk 5293 is a reflection of the museum’s goal of expanding the public’s awareness of contemporary art.

NFTs in major museums

Gmoney, a pseudonymous investor, said that way back, he had already predicted that NFTs, particularly the CryptoPunks, would soon land on major museums. And he was right.

But he admitted that his prediction came earlier than he expected, and with CryptoPunk’s presence in ICA, there’s no doubt that more NFTs would soon follow.

The investor added that the world has already passed the point of no return, and this NFT trend would certainly rise further in the near future.
