Counter-Strike 2 is heading to Dubai for the BetBoom Dacha CS2 tournament. After the end of events like CS Asia Championships and BLAST Premier Fall Final 2023, it is still very hard to pick a team and say with confidence that they can take the title home. As CS2 is still very early in its esports scene, players and teams are yet to find a proper footing in the game. Nonetheless, the CS community is looking forward to the BetBoom Dacha CS2 tournament where 8 teams will battle it out to find out who can win it all. With a prize pool of $300,000, there is doubt that every team will give it their all.

After the end of BLAST Premier Fall Final 2023, fans have an idea of how the teams are looking. We have seen some impressive performances from a few of the players and can expect them to display similar showings in Dubai as well. However, we have to consider that these are separate tournaments and the same performance may not happen, but it is a reference that has allowed us to narrow down three teams that are looking to have a major impact during this tournament.

Cloud9

Cloud9 is one of the most iconic teams in CS history. Having a strong record and a dedicated group of fans, they are a legendary organization in the history of the game. Despite having some ups and downs in recent years, they have made a strong comeback in 2023. 

They have shown some great performances in numerous events over the year. They were placed 2nd at the ESL Pro League Season 17. After the swap to CS2, they did stumble for some time after placing only 11th at IEM Sydney 2023. Even so, they bounced back strong by placing 3rd at the Thnderpick World Championship and 4th at the most recent BLAST Premier: Fall Final 2023. At every game, the team has shown consistency and some creative ideas, making them a fan favorite going into this series.

After the addition of their new IGL, Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhaylov alongside Denis “electroNic” Sharipov and Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiym the team has discovered new-found energy going into future events. The team’s star and CS legend Abay “HObbit” Khassenov has high hopes for the team’s future. Considering the group that C9 is placed in, we are hoping to see these fan favorites produce the results they are hoping for.

Astralis

Speaking of legends, the 4-time Major winning team, Astralis, is definitely in the conversation of the fan-favorite teams heading into the BetBoom Dacha Tournament. This team is one of the most recognized names in CS history and has had an immense run in major LAN events like this.

Though they have a strong team, consisting of experienced players like Benjamin “blameF” Bremer and legendary AWPer, Nicolai “dev1ce” Reedtz, alongside a strong batch of young guns like Jakob “jabbi” Nygaad, this Danish squad has had some trouble being a cohesive team. From the recent BLAST Premier” Fall Final 2023, we saw some incredible individual performances from each member of the team. However, in certain aspects, they lack teamwork and coordination. As the squad has not been playing together for long, it is normal to see them have some problems in becoming a unit immediately. There is no denying they have some immense potential, that is why they have so many fans who believe that this squad can shine.

As there is not much time before the BetBoom Dacha event, this squad of Astralis must band together and form an all-round unbeatable squad. A squad we know they have the potential of being, as that is why we are considering them as a fan favorite going into the series.

Virtus.Pro

The renowned CS team, Virtus.Pro, is looking to display a showing in the upcoming BetBoom Dacha tournament, and we most definitely are expecting to see them perform brilliantly. After having a solid year in CS:GO and a decent start in CS2, the squad has shown promise and resilience, which has earned them the support they have going into this event.

The squad has shown their potential by winning two major tournaments earlier this year, FiReLEAGUE Battle and Roobet Cup 2023. Even after swapping to CS2, the squad has shown great resilience by coming in at 2nd place at the Thunderpick World Championship 2023. With some legendary players like Dzhami “Jame” Ali and Evgeniy “FL1T” Lebedev in their roster, this squad looks like they are in the prime spot to take home the whole series.

Virtus.Pro have proven their worth in recent tournaments and have shown why they are one of the most renowned teams in CS. With such massive support behind them, we can only hope to see this squad shine brightly during this event.

Honorable Mention: FURIA Esports

If we are to talk about fan favorites, we cannot ignore one of the most iconic organizations, from one of the massive regions in CS. FURIA Esports is a household name in the Brazillian CS community and if you have seen any event where a Brazillian team has played, you know the crowd is going to be one-sided. Especially considering how stacked the roster for FURIA is this time.

The names say it all, IGL and CS legend, Gabriel “FalleN” Toledo, Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato, and Andrei “arT” Piovezan. This all-start Brazillian squad has all the experience and fragging capabilities a team needs. Despite having average-below results in previous tournaments, the team still has all the elements to make them an unstoppable force. We have seen individual brilliance in this squad and it is beautiful. However, in a game like CS, team play is vital. It is certain that the players of FURIA are aware of this as well and have worked on improving this. Only by being able to show their brilliance together can this team shine.

Besides considering the experience of the players and the time they have had to prepare for this event, it is worth expecting to see this team show up with a bang and deliver their potential as promised. For this reason, we are considering FURIA Esports as an honorable mention in the favorites of BetBoom Dacha.

Final Words

As the BetBoom Dacha event approaches, we can expect to see a battle of epic proportions among the teams. The squads we have mentioned will show great resilience during the event, however, we are still hoping to see other teams like GamerLegion and MIBR shine as well. Just like we mentioned above, CS2 is still young and teams are still jumping at every opportunity to be established as a powerhouse of the game. With that in mind, we can expect the esport to spice up, starting from this tournament.
