As the year draws to a close and the festive Christmas season approaches, Pieces Interactive, the team behind the upcoming survival horror game Alone in the Dark, has been facing an unexpected challenge. Despite initially planning to launch the game in January 2024, the holiday season threatened to cast a shadow of stress over the development team rather than bring festive cheer.

Why was Alone in the Dark postponed?

In light of what we said, THQ Nordic and Pieces Interactive have made a joint decision to reschedule the release of Alone in the Dark to March 20th, 2024. The well-being of the development teams is of utmost importance, and both companies aim to avoid any potential crunch during the Christmas holidays. Additionally, the decision reflects a commitment to ensuring that the game not only meets but exceeds the community’s expectations, especially considering the stellar performances of Hollywood stars David and Jodie in their roles as the main protagonists.

Alone in the Dark pays homage to the groundbreaking original by offering players the opportunity to immerse themselves in a haunting narrative from the perspective of one of two protagonists: step into the shoes of Edward Carnby, portrayed by David Harbour (known for roles in Stranger Things and Hellboy), or embody Emily Hartwood, brought to life by Jodie Comer (recognized for appearances in Free Guy and Killing Eve). This reimagined classic survival horror game blends psychological horror with Southern Gothic elements, inviting players to explore their surroundings, confront monsters, solve puzzles, and unravel the unsettling truth of Derceto Manor.

Crafted by the talented Mikael Hedberg (known for SOMA and Amnesia: The Dark Descent), featuring monster designs by the renowned collaborator of Guillermo del Toro, Guy Davis, and accompanied by the eerie Doom Jazz melodies composed by legend Jason Köhnen, the game seamlessly combines to deliver a spine-chilling and atmospheric survival horror experience.
