One of the stories that dominated last week will get more attention this week: the shutdown of Ford’s F-150 Lightning production line. The automaker is examining what caused one of the batteries in a finished electric pickup to catch fire and what that means going forward.
Right now, the company’s just halted production, but it hasn’t issued a stop-sale order, which would prevent dealers from selling trucks already produced. Ford CEO Jim Farley has spoken repeatedly about the need for the automaker to get its product launches done properly and the need to cut down on warranty costs in general.
We’ll keep tabs on the automaker’s investigation and bring you any developments.
