Ubisoft delays Rainbow Six Extraction and Rider’s Republic… again

Ubisoft has delayed two major upcoming games once again, with Rider’s Republic and Rainbow Six Extraction both being pushed back from release dates planned for September of this year. Rider’s Republic will now release on October 28th 2021, while Rainbow Six Extraction is delayed until January 2022.

Both games were planned for release in September – 2nd September for Rider’s Republic and 16th September for Rainbow Six Extraction – but Ubisoft has pushed them both back in order to get their development teams more time. In the case of Rider’s Republic, this is more to let them adjust to feedback from an upcoming beta, while for Rainbow Six Extraction, it’s more generally to “bring this vision to life in the way it deserves.”

Ubisoft issued two statements explaining the move. For Rider’s Republic they said:

We can’t wait for you all to hit the Republic in our upcoming beta! This will be the first time you get to go hands-on in this massive multiplayer playground and we are looking forward to hearing what you think.

To ensure we can deliver the best game for all players, we’ve made the tough decision to delay our release date from September 2 to October 28. This will give us more time to fine tune the experience and give you another chance to jump in before launch and provide feedback.

And for Rainbow Six Extraction, the team wrote:

Our ambition with Rainbow Six Extraction is to deliver a full-fledged AAA experience that changes the way you play and think about cooperative games. With unique features like Missing In Action or The Sprawl, every mission is set to be a tense and challenging experience in which you’ll lead the elite operators of Rainbow Six in a fight against a lethal and evolving alien threat.

We are embracing the opportunity to take additional time to bring this vision to life in the way it deserves in January 2022. We are confident this will ensure Rainbow Six Extraction is the immersive, cooperative, and thrilling experience we set out to create, and the one you aspire to play.

Both games have already been heavily delayed, so it’s a case of “what’s a few more months wait?” Rider’s Republic was expected in early 2021 after it was announced back in September 2020, but has been pushed back a few times. More heavily affected has been Extraction, which was originally called Rainbow Six Quarantine before, you know… everything. First announced in 2019, it was postponed as Ubisoft struggled with several games’ development, then put in a kind of limbo while Ubisoft decided on a new name through 2020.

So here’s the sitch:

  • Rider’s Republic will release on 28th October 2021 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, Stadia and Luna.
  • Rainbow Six Extraction will arrive in January 2022 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One, PC, Stadia and Luna.
