DREDGE has a new Passive mode and new Photo mode

One of our favourite games of 2023 so far is that of DREDGE; Team17 and Black Salt Games’ sinister fishing adventure. Already a stunner to play through DREDGE today gets updated – with new game modes front and centre.

What is DREDGE?

If you have yet to play DREDGE then you are missing out on something a bit special. Launching back in March 2023 on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation, Switch and PC, it has you captaining your very own fishing trawler.

Nothing special there you may think. But as you traverse the high seas and take in the surrounding lands, DREDGE opens up like nothing else. Heading out on a fishing trip, checking your crab pots, dredging the ocean for all it is worth is all superbly well done; highly immersive. You see, you never know what you may gather up from the depths of the ocean…

With mystery front and centre, a narrative holding things together and fishing expeditions to die for, if you only play one game this week, make it DREDGE.

Today though that game is getting even better. It is doing that with the introduction of a new update that adds in a couple of new game modes. Fancy getting involved in DREDGE’s Passive Mode or Photo Mode?

DREDGE new Photo Mode!

Taking the Photo Mode first and it feels like a perfect fit for DREDGE. Much requested from the gaming community, before you can spot nautical life through a lens and visually document those findings on the open sea, you’ll need to first fish for a piece of equipment and exchange it with a new islander, a photographer, for the new device.

DREDGE new Passive Mode!

Alongside that comes the new Passive Mode. It pretty much does as it says on the tin. Perfect for those who want to avoid the biggest nasties in DREDGE and lean into the game’s laid back fishing gameplay, Passive Mode will let you avoid the more sinister side of the adventure.

But there’s more to the latest DREDGE update. See, it also introduces an additional 10 aberrations ready to be caught, together with their less frightful fishy counterparts. There are also new wildlife events to observe, including a graceful whale shark and pods of orca whales.

Finally, a new monster from the deep has also been added to DREDGE. This one is sure to ‘terror-ray-se’ even the hardiest of fishing vessels.

Play DREDGE today

You can play DREDGE right now. The latest update with the Photo Mode and Passive Mode is rolling out right about now. Find it from the Xbox Store for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It’s also on PlayStation, Switch and PC.

Let us know if the update is of interest.
