Ryanair eyes slots IAG may have to hand over as a possible solution in the proposed Air Europa acquisition

In February 2023, IAG, the owner of British Airways and Iberia, announced its intention to acquire the remaining 80% of the shares in Air Europa that it did not already own for 400 million euros ($431.2 million).

IAG is now facing roadblocks on the acquisition from the European Commission and may be forced to give up some important slots to gain approval.

Ryanair is expressing interest in acquiring the slots if they become avaialble.
