This initiative, developed in collaboration with the Medical Innovation Xchange (MIX) and Catalyst Commons, represents the first chapter of the Innovator Network of Canada (INC), a response to the demands of the Council of Canadian Innovators (CCI) members.

WINC's launch event, attended by approximately 150 people, including the mayors of Kitchener and Waterloo, signifies a concerted effort to address a community gap identified since the COVID-19 pandemic. Armen Bakirtzian, CEO of Intellijoint Surgical and co-founder of MIX, emphasized the region's historical strength in local collaboration, which he believes is crucial for the economic prosperity of the area.
The platform aims to unite CEOs and founders with a shared focus on the region's economic well-being. Ben Bergen, president of CCI, highlighted WINC's role in enabling Kitchener-Waterloo tech entrepreneurs to connect, contribute to their communities, and guide the local economy. The broader goal is to expand INC across Canada, creating a national network of local tech community groups.
