The anticipation for Alan Wake 2 is palpable among fans of the original game and newcomers to the series alike. The atmospheric thriller that Alan Wake brought to the gaming world has left players eagerly awaiting its sequel. Yet, amid this excitement, there is a lingering question as to whether fans can play it via Game Pass. Xbox Game Pass has evolved into a behemoth subscription service, providing subscribers with a rich and diverse selection of titles, from indie gems to blockbuster hits. Many of Remedy’s past titles like Control and the original Alan Wake have graced its catalogue. So today, let’s answer the question on everyone’s mind, that is “Will Alan Wake 2 be available on Xbox Game Pass?”

Will Alan Wake 2 be on Game Pass?

As of now, there is no official confirmation that Alan Wake 2 will be part of the Xbox Game Pass library. The issue is that the availability of a game on Xbox Game Pass can be influenced by various factors, including publisher deals and licensing agreements.

While the original Alan Wake and its spin-off, American Nightmare, have made appearances on Game Pass, that was primarily because they were published by Microsoft Game Studios at the time. Also, Remedy Entertainment’s 2019 game Control was included in Xbox Game Pass in 2020. This was made possible through an agreement between the Control’s publisher, 505 Games, and Xbox.

However, In the case of Alan Wake 2, someone else is holding the bag. The game is being published by Epic Games Publishing, who also published Alan Wake Remastered, which means it may involve distinct arrangements compared to the original Alan Wake 1. Additionally, the fact that Epic’s Alan Wake Remastered has not yet made its way to Game Pass further suggests that it may be a while before we see the sequel on Game Pass. Epic would want as much of the initial sales as possible to come through its own storefront as opposed to Game Pass since they would to make their money back as fast as possible. Then when sales die down, they may bring Alan Wake 2 to Game Pass, but past indications suggest it will be at least a year or so before that happens. But hey, at least it’s a few dollars cheaper than most modern games today, huh?
