2023 Spring Review

It was another forgettable 2023 Spring Split for Immortals. They did not make any major signings and struggled to find their footing the entirety of the Spring. This is sad because many were hoping that Revenge and Kenvi would at least take the next steps to be one of the best top-side duos in the LCS. That did not happen.

The team barely finished ahead of an atrocious Dignitas team at 4-14. Their only major wins came against CLG and Evil Geniuses. There is not much else to say other than the 2023 Spring Split was another one that Immortals fans will want to forget.

2023 Summer Split Roster

Top- Solo

Jng- Kenvi

Mid- Bolulu

Bot- Tactical

Sup- Treatz

When looking at this roster, it may not seem like much. But interestingly, this will probably be one of the better Immortals rosters in recent memory. Every addition to the team is either better talent-wise or style-wise. Starting with Solo, he is the perfect compliment to Kenvi and Tactical. Unlike Revenge, he needs next to no resources and will play whatever is needed to help the team win. Treatz is very similar but is also a major playmaker and someone who makes everyone on his team better. Bolulu will have questions surrounding his champion pool and will need to put those to rest for him to stick with the team. Lastly there are the two major carries for the team, Kenvi and Tactical. While they play very different positions, they are extremely similar. At their best they can 1v9 and at their worst they can solo-lose the game.

Predicted Spring Placement: 9th

Potential Range for the Team: 6th – 10th

At their best, this team is similar to the TSM from this past Spring Split. They will stick around and win some big games but they are very unlikely to challenge for a championship. At their worst, this could be the last Split for most of these players.

For Immortals to find success they will have to enable Kenvi and Tactical in a major way. Kenvi will need to be given consistent carry champs, even in a tank or supportive jungle meta. Also Tactical will need ways to come back from his one or two major positioning errors a game. If they can do this, Immortals could be an interesting team. And what is interesting is that Solo and Treatz are the players that may be able to pull it off.

Unfortunately, even with the solid and steady additions, it feels like it is a steep hill to climb. Immortals may do better than the predicted ninth place but it feels like that will be due to other teams struggling more than IMT winning. As has become the norm for IMT fans, this may be another rough Split for the once proud org.
