The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom features a variety of boss battles. Usually, an enemy’s weak point is made obvious, but sometimes that’s not the case. Then you have to figure out what you might be missing. Here is our guide explaining how to beat Yunobo in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom – how to beat Yunobo

Yunobo is a Goron living in Goron City. He has a good head for business. The other Gorons think highly of him, but lately he hasn’t been himself. The sudden change in personality leads to a confrontation that you must resolve early in the Yunobo of Goron City main quest.

To beat Yunobo, you have to break his mask into pieces. Once you destroy the mask, it will fall away and the battle concludes.

Your fight with Yunobo takes place in a cave. Yunobo begins the battle in typical Goron fashion: by rolling into an armored ball. He then launches toward you at high speed. At this stage, I get close enough to target him. Then I keep him targeted so I’m ready to jump out of the way when he rolls toward me. The roll happens quickly. It may hit you even if you think you’re prepared. Fortunately, you shouldn’t take much damage if you have decent armor.

If Yunobo misses you and you are close to a wall, he rams against the side of the cave. This temporarily stuns him. You’ll see stars over his head. Quickly run up to him and strike him with your melee weapon. Your attack should crack a portion of his mask. Then the fight resumes. Damage his mask several times in this manner. Each blow removes a large chunk of Yunobo’s life meter. The final crack causes the mask to drop to the ground.

After the battle, Yunobo finally has a change of heart. Now he will aid you during the next leg of your journey. You will soon have to figure out how to beat Moragia, but we’ve written a guide for that.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available on the Nintendo Switch.
