Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a fever dream of a Mario game, with eight worlds — six main worlds, a hub world that doubles as the final boss fight world, and a special world made up of the hardest levels in the game. Beating the game’s main story is no small feat, and getting a 100% completion on it is kind of a monumental task.

Let’s talk about how long Super Mario Bros. Wonder takes to beat (including how long it takes to do everything the game has to offer) and how many levels there are.

To progress through the main story worlds of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, you’ll need to collect a series of Wonder Seeds. You’ll need increasing numbers of them to unlock paths and levels in your quest to retrieve Royal Seeds and stop Bowser.

If you’re going for the minimum number and just mainlining the story, it’ll take you a little less than 10 hours to finally beat Bowser and save the Flower Kingdom. If you’re looking to collect every Wonder Seed, 10-flower coin, and get a perfect on every flagpole, you’re probably going to spend closer to 15 to 20 hours — or, given how difficult the Special World levels are, maybe even longer.

There are a total of 152 levels in Super Mario Bros. Wonder, but only 69 (nice) of them are regular, main story levels. The remainder are 10 Special World levels, 20 Badge Challenges, three Wiggler Races, six KO Arenas, four Search Party levels, 19 Break Time! levels, 10 houses (with free Wonder Seeds), and 11 Poplin Shops.

  • W1 Pipe-Rock Plateau has 11 regular levels plus the final palace. There are also three Badge Challenges, one Wriggler Race, one KO Arena, three Break Time! levels, one house, and one shop.
  • W2 Fluff-Puff Peaks has eight regular levels plus an flying battleship and the final palace, three Badge Challenges, one KO Arena, a Search Party (Puzzling Park), three Break Time! levels, one house, and two Poplin Shops.
  • W3 Shining Falls has six regular levels plus a final mansion, one Badge Challenge, one Search Party (An Empty Park?), four Break Time! levels, one house, and one shop.
  • W4 Sunbaked Desert has nine regular levels plus the final palace, three Badge Challenges, one KO Arena, one Search Party (Pipe Park), six Break Time! levels, one house, and two Poplin Shops.
  • W5 Fungi Mines has seven regular levels plus the final Royal Seed level, one Badge Challenge, one KO Arena, two Break Time! levels, one house, and one shop.
  • W6 Deep Magma Bog has six regular levels plus one flying battleship and the final palace, six Badge Challenges, one KO Arena, one Search Party (Item Park), one Break Time! level, four houses, and one shop.
  • The Petal Isles can be broken into two parts. Before you collect the six Royal Seeds, there are eight regular levels and the flying battleship, three Badge Challenges, two Wriggler Races, one KO Arena, one house, and two Poplin Shops. After you collect all the Royal Seeds and take on Bowser, there are four more levels plus the final boss fight.
  • The Special World is a series of challenges, so there is only one Poplin shop and nine levels. If you collect every Wonder Seed, 10-flower coin, and get a perfect on every flagpole, you’ll unlock one final level — that grants you one final badge.

We’ve got guides to help you find every Wonder Seed in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. You can jump to Pipe-Rock Plateau, Fluff-Puff Peaks, Shining Falls, Sunbaked Desert, Fungi Mines, Deep Magma Bog, the Petal Isles, and Special World.
