ESL Open #197: Cure, Clem, MaxPax win

Week #197 of the Open Cups began with Cure prevailing on the Korean server and winning his first cup since Week #173 (May 2023). The Korean cup also featured a major upset in the RO16, as Firefly took down herO before getting eliminated by Cure.

Terran was triumphant again on the European server, with Clem going on a perfect run to become the weekly champion. The EU server had its own big upset as Harstem 2-0’d Reynor in the RO8, but like Firefly, he was also subsequently eliminated by the eventual cup champion.

The week’s ESL Cups wrapped up with MaxPax achieving the second perfect run of the week on the American server, though he benefited from two of his opponents forfeiting (including Cure in the semifinals).

In non-ESL Cups, Cure achieved an unofficial weekly double by winning Kung Fu Cup Winter #3, defeating Clem 3-1 in the finals. KSL was on break this week, as it moved to a less frequent schedule due to a reduction in Patreon funding.
