Body Vision Medical has announced exclusive distribution agreements to expand the reach of its LungVision artificial intelligence (AI)-driven imaging system in Central and South America.

The partnerships with DeLeC Científica Uruguaya and Bio Scan aim to enhance access to the LungVision technology in Bolivia, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and Mexico.

LungVision leverages AI to convert X-ray images into real-time, intraoperative CT scans, revolutionising the way bronchoscopists visualise and biopsy pulmonary lesions, and integrates into their existing medical workflows.

It is designed to enhance the precision of lung nodule biopsies, potentially leading to earlier-stage cancer detection, and improves patient survival rates.

Body Vision Medical Sales and Marketing Development vice-president Jon Ulvestad said: “As lung cancer screening guidelines evolve to encompass earlier and more inclusive lung cancer screening of high-risk individuals, the capacity of institutions and clinicians to perform diagnostic bronchoscopy is going to have to grow commensurately to handle the incremental volume.

“These new partnerships with Bio Scan and DeLeC are important strides toward making a solution like LungVision that can economically increase both lung nodule biopsy capacity and diagnostic accuracy available to markets that can really benefit from such a technology.”

The agreements mark a significant step in Body Vision Medical’s strategy to make LungVision available in 60 markets by 2025. With these new partnerships, the company’s distribution network now spans 36 countries globally.

In August this year, the company signed distribution agreements with Kral Medical Solutions, Paragon Care and Prism Technologies for the LungVision system.

The partnerships enabled the company to launch the system in Australia and New Zealand, Hong Kong, Macao, Romania and the entire Greater Bay Area.
