Bethesda Is Bizarrely Replying To Negative Starfield Reviews

Something that developers almost never do is respond to bad reviews of its games. But a few days ago, Starfield fans noticed that Bethesda was bizarrely replying to negative reviews of its space RPG.

Normally, developers don’t interact with reviews in the slightest. Many gamers online are now reacting negatively to Bethesda’s replies.

This Reddit post showed screenshots of some of the posts where Bethesda was bizarrely replying to some negative Starfield reviews on Steam. It reads like a long email or short essay that you don’t normally see developers do.

As you can tell from reading the reply from ‘Bethesda Customer Support’, the post is trying to make the negative reviewer understand that they’re somehow in the wrong. Starfield in fact does have more to do than the main mission, as it goes on to explain how its planets are empty by design.

Some of the other replies are even stating the same thing. There are a lot of copy-and-paste remarks about how you can play Starfield for hundreds of hours. The response even tells the negative reviewer to try creating a new character with different backgrounds and characteristics.

As you can expect, the Reddit discussions are heating up. One reply I have to point out that encapsulates how I feel about these Bethesda replies is one from the user ‘DivineBeef’: “You need to do some serious mental acrobatics and go down the rabbit hole of logical fallacy to arrive at the point that the player is at fault for not enjoying the game.”

It’s true that many players really enjoyed Starfield, but others very much did not. When companies try to desperately convince players who didn’t enjoy their game to try it again while attempting to prove why they’re wrong, it just doesn’t read well. You should never have to engage with negative reviewers, especially a few months post-release.
