2024 is here, so let’s take a look at a couple of Dota 2 teams to watch in 2024 and learn more about each one.

After taking a look at some of the least-picked Dota 2 heroes in 2023, the next important step is to learn more about what’s going to happen in 2024. We will probably have to wait for a while until Valve comes out with a new patch, but the first big tournament will begin just a few days from now. Therefore, it’s time to highlight 5 Dota 2 teams to watch in 2024 that we expect to perform way better than the rest.

Gaimin Gladiators

Starting with the powerhouse from Western Europe, Gaimin Gladiators is among the first Dota 2 teams to watch in 2024, and for a good reason. Everyone who follows Dota 2’s professional scene is aware of the team’s incredible results in 2023. In fact, many experts think that Gaimin Gladiator’s run in 2023 was more impressive than the one of OG when it won two TIs.

Usually, Dota 2 teams do not perform that well after having an excellent year. However, unlike a lot of other top names, Gamin Gladiators did not make any roster changes. On the contrary, the team decided to stick together, which means that they should be able to rip through their opponents.

Unless there is a big event in January, Gaimin Gladiators re-join the action at BetBoom Dacha 2024, which will begin in early February. The team from Western Europe is among the directly invited squads.

Team Spirit

One of the biggest surprises in Dota 2 in 2023 is Team Spirit. Those who kept a close eye on the tournaments in 2023 probably remember that TS did not play well early on. In fact, the squad barely made it to the big tournaments, and when it did, it wasn’t able to defeat any of the big names in Western Europe. However, things have changed.

Despite being the underdogs at TI and the Riyadh Masters, Team Spirit did the impossible and won two of the most popular Dota 2 tournaments of the year. The squad also lifted the trophy at DreamLeague Season 21, meaning Spirit got 3 big victories.

Considering the team’s results in 2023, we think that this is definitely among the Dota 2 teams to watch in 2024. Like GG, TS will resume the action at BetBoom Dacha 2024, but since there is a month until that event begins, we could see a lot of changes.

Xtreme Gaming

China was one of the most dominant regions in Dota 2 before, but today, things are very different. Instead of being one of the best, the Chinese teams are struggling against some of Europe’s finest. Sure, there are some exceptions, but generally speaking, the region has not been as good as before.

Nevertheless, we strongly believe that 2024 is when this will change. One of the 5 Dota 2 teams to watch in 2024 will be Xtreme Gaming, and we expect the Chinese powerhouse to rip through its opponents.

The main reason why XG should be able to perform much better than before is the team’s roster. Wang “Ame” Chunyu decided to come back into action, and the organization formed an entirely new roster around him. Even though we expected to see the likes of Somnus and fy in it (especially after they left Azure Ray), XG decided to add XM, XXS, XinQ, and Dy.

The new Xtreme Gaming roster looks incredibly powerful, and we have no doubts it will dominate the Chinese region. The team will probably need some time to get used to the international scene, though, so don’t be surprised if XG’s first results are not as impressive.

Azure Ray

When talking about the Chinese Dota 2 region, another big name that we need to mention is Azure Ray. Truth be told, no one expected this Chinese stack to perform that well. The organization was created in May 2023 and had already experienced two massive roster changes.

The original draft features the likes of Chalice, Somnus and fy, but all of them left in late November. Following that, the organization added XXS, Xm, and XinQ, and it took part in the ESL One Kuala Lumpur 2023. No one expected Azure Ray to win, but the squad succeeded and became the first non-European team to win an international tournament in a while. That’s why we believe Azure Ray is among the Dota 2 teams to watch in 2024.

Just when we thought that the roster changes were over, Azure Ray surprised us yet again. Xm, Xxs, and XinQ decided to leave in favor of Xtreme Gaming, which is why the organization added Faith_bian, Ori, and fy on December 31, 2023.

The last of the Dota 2 teams to watch in 2024 includes a name from Southeast Asia. Once one of the best regions in the game, it’s been years since we’ve seen a dominant Southeast Asian team. However, following the Dota 2 roster changes post TI12, Blacklist International ended with a roster that looks incredibly dangerous to play against.

After parting ways with Kuku, Karl and kpii, Blacklist International decided to strengthen its roster by adding some of the best SEA Dota 2 players. Consequently, we will see the likes of Abed, Gabbi and Carlo in action. They will join Raven and TIMS and try to prove that Southeast Asia is on par with the other leading Dota 2 regions.

We are yet to see whether Blacklist International will take place at BetBoom Dacha Dubai 2024. It will be very interesting to see the squad alongside the other leading Dota 2 teams, but we will have to wait to see what’s going to happen.

Final thoughts
