We’re officially on the road to the WWE 2K22 release date later this year, and the title looks as exciting as any in recent memory.

Here’s what we know so far about the WWE 2K22 release date, the potential for Early Access or a demo, and more.

Latest – First look at development released

After the struggles of WWE 2K20 and cancellation of WWE 2K21, WWE Games has committed to providing an in-depth behind the scenes view of the title’s development.

The first of hopefully many looks has finally arrived, introduced by WWE 2K22 Creative Director Lynell Jinks.

The brief video shown above has a look at “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair taking scans for the game, as well as a short shot of motion capture work being done for the title.

We don’t know exactly when more of these looks will arrive, but there should be more on the way as we approach the release date for WWE 2K22 later this year.

WWE 2K22 Release Date

While we don’t have an official WWE 2K22 release date just yet, previous years give us a good indication of when the title should be expected.

MAKING AN ENTRANCE: WWE 2K22 will need to make a big splash later this year

While things have varied a bit over the years, WWE 2K has almost exclusively launched titles in October, and the WWE pay-per-view event expected that month is WWE Hell in a Cell, possibly on October 17, 2021.

With WWE 2K22 likely to be a sponsor for that show as it was in previous years, a post-event launch lines up, making the most likely WWE 2K22 release date October 19, 2021.

Announcement Trailer at WrestleMania 37

The first big news for WWE 2K22 has finally landed as the reveal trailer premiered during Night One of WrestleMania 37.

This early teaser has given fans a look at gameplay footage, though they do note it’s from “a work-in-progress build.”

Even if this is preliminary, the footage looks like things are taking a major step forward after the way WWE 2K20 turned out.

The brief visuals and gameplay shown are a great start, and there should be more to come following this first look at WWE 2K22.

Early Access

While WWE 2K22 is likely to offer some major pre order bonuses, especially if players decide to get the Deluxe Edition, it doesn’t look like Early Access will be one of them.

While several sports titles have begun to jump on the Early Access bandwagon and allow players to start playing three or four days before launch, it looks unlikely anyone gets the full game until the WWE 2K22 release date.

However, there is a chance WWE 2K22 could take a cue from recent NBA 2K releases when it comes to giving a different kind of sneak peek.

WWE 2K22 Demo

We didn’t see a WWE 2K20 demo when that game released in 2019, but with NBA 2K21 seeing success with their own demo that could be set to change this year.

Especially with the hiccups from a few years ago, 2K Games and WWE could make major strides to remedying those mistakes by giving players the opportunity to play the game themselves before the WWE 2K22 release date.

While a demo would likely be limited with basic gameplay and modes, it would at least allow them to prove the game works as intended and isn’t as broken as WWE 2K20 was at launch.

Going Next Gen

This looks likely to be the first year that the WWE 2K video game series lands on next gen platforms, and it could be a major opportunity for the title.
