The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom does a lot that feels brand new, but also keeps an eye on the franchise’s lengthy history. If some version of Link has worn a particular suit of armor in a previous game, you’ll likely find it again here. You just have to gather the pieces, which sometimes can prove tricky. Here is our guide telling you where to get the Tunic of the Wild in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Tears of the Kingdom – where to get the Tunic of the Wild

The Armor of the Wild set first appeared in Breath of the Wild, making it one of the newest sets you can acquire. There are three pieces, as usual. To get the Tunic of the Wild, look in the head of the Gerudo Dark Skeleton.

If you haven’t already explored the southwestern portions of the Depths, start there now. The nearest chasm you can use to enter is the East Gerudo Chasm, located in the overworld a short glide south from Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower.

From the chasm, travel a short distance to Amakawis Lightroot, which you should see immediately. Then, follow the statues facing northwest to reach Mihcihc Lightroot. From there, proceed due west to Gonatoyros Lightroot, which is on a hill overlooking the Abandoned Gerudo Mine. Next, travel west again to reach Gonatoyrim Lightroot. Finally, head south to arrive at the Gerudo Dark Skeleton itself, and look for the head. The above map screenshot shows its precise location. It is separate from the body.

As you arrive near the enormous skeleton and skull, you’ll encounter an unusual concentration of more challenging enemies. Steer clear of them as possible. Use the Ascend ability to find safety on the skeleton’s ribs if you need to. There also is a lot of gloom along the ground, as well. This area is poorly lit, even if you’ve activated lightroots throughout the Depths. Toss Giant Brightbloom Seeds to improve visibility.

Your goal is to enter the giant skull. Several Horriblin enemies guard it. I don’t enjoy stopping to fight them. Instead, I ran inside and claimed my reward without bothering. The chest you’re looking for rests atop a bony ledge. It’s mostly surrounded by gloom. Open the treasure chest to acquire the Tunic of the Wild.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available for purchase from the Nintendo Store.
