The United States Air Force (USAF) has contracted the blockchain protocol, Constellation Network to develop a data security framework that will help in exchanging mission data securely across the Defense Transportation System (DTS). According to the shared press release, Constellation Network will be applying its inhouse developed blockchain protocol Hypergraph Transfer Protocol (HGTP) to the military’s digital infrastructure to back the firm’s data sharing with its commercial partners.

Constellation Network will be providing the service in conjunction with Kinnami Software Corporation who helped in creating an end-to-end data security solution using blockchain encryption and distributed data management. These infrastructural provisions will help enhance the cyber security needs of core units involved with the USAF such as the 618 AOC and Air Mobility Command’s (AMC).

“Being able to quickly and securely exchange information across the 618 AOC’s digital infrastructure is critical to our operational security. Equipping our airmen with the tools they need to coordinate mission details, while protecting the integrity of our global operations, has long been a critical factor when providing 24/7 command and control to mobility forces,” said Lt Col Tharon Sperry, Deputy Director of Strategy for the 618th AOC.

Blockchain Utility Expanding to Enterprise Utilities

The use of blockchain technology is growing beyond the usage as cryptocurrencies as evident in Bitcoin (BTC), and other numerous altcoins. In the past few years, there has been a gradual shift into enterprise adoption by in the drive to faster the tech’s mainstream adoption.

The Constellation Network’s engagement with the American Air Force is a testament to the push of blockchain technology in this direction.

“In the last few years, blockchain technology has become very attractive to enterprise organizations with its promise to deliver more efficiency and security for numerous use cases, including supply chain management. Due to slow and costly networks, the adoption of blockchain has been very lackluster. This contract opens the door to bigger, more critical uses of blockchain for data protection in a global digital infrastructure, bringing forth the true promises of the core technology,” said Benjamin Diggles, Constellation’s Chief Strategy Officer and Co-Founder.

Per the contract with the USAF, the protocol’s native token, DAG Token will be deployed to secure bandwidth on the network.
