UK charity shops find success selling online

According to Retail Gazette, after struggling during the lockdown that lasted from December until April, UK Charity shops have found success, selling 151% more online between February and July.

The average charity shop lost £33,000 during the December and April lockdown, according to the Charity Retail Association, which represents about 400 charities running thousands of shops.

A huge amount of second-hand goods sellers have set up shop online after COVID-19 restrictions caused a major dip in earnings. The majority of sales conducted by charity shops took place on eBay where they were able to avoid fees and reach a much wider audience. Some of the most popular products sold by charity shops during the spring and summer months included pet supplies, baby products and sports memorabilia.

eBay Charity Connect applications now open

UK Charities raised £27 million on eBay in 2020 and to assist even more charities eBay Charity Connect has helped hundreds of UK charity sellers improve online fundraising capabilities. eBay aims to support even more charities boost unrestricted funding through selling on eBay so following it’s huge success in 2020, it’s been announced that eBay Charity Connect applications are open for a course starting in September 2021.
