Trailer And Character Roster Revealed For Contra: Operation Galuga

Looking forward to the next iteration of the Contra brand? Konami and WayForward have today unveiled a pretty explosive trailer and character roster for Contra: Operation Galuga.

Contra: Operation Galuga is the run and gunner you probably want in your life. It’s coming to Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in early 2024. And at that same time it’ll be found dropping onto PlayStation, Nintendo Switch and PC through Steam.

And that game now has a nifty little trailer to take in, as well as some further written info that you may like to know about; namely a robust playable character roster.

A new operation in Contra

Contra: Operation Galuga builds on the story and protagonists of the original arcade/NES Contra game. But this time the mission in Contra: Operation Galuga kicks off following a meteor shower in the Galuga Archipelago and its subsequent invasion by the Red Falcon terrorist group.

After other options fail, the Earth Marine Corps dispatches its most elite soldiers – Bill Rizer and Lance Bean of the Contra unit. It’s up to them to investigate and neutralize any potential threats. As the Story Mode unfolds, more than six hardcore heroes become playable, including:

Player roster is deep

Bill Rizer: Field leader of the Contra unit, possessing exceptional physical strength, agility, and mental fortitude. Proficient in all manner of armaments and well-versed in military science.
Lance Bean: An expert marksman adept with machinery. Was active as a guerrilla fighter before being recruited into the Earth Marine Corps by Bill Rizer.
Ariana: A tremendously skilled warrior from the Galuga Archipelago. After her village was nearly wiped out by Red Falcon’s attack, she wages a one-woman war against the enemy forces.
Lucia: Deputy commander in the Earth Marine Corps and also a talented field operative. She is equally proficient at combat missions and covert intelligence.
Lt. Stanley Ironside: A veteran who leads an armored platoon in the GX Army. He wears a powered Hercules exosuit to supplement his already formidable combat skills.
Probotector: Autonomous training robots used by the Contra Unit. Utilizing cutting-edge tech, they are every bit as capable in the field as their human counterparts.

New game modes bolster things

Contra: Operation Galuga will deliver that Story Mode and Arcade Mode to the masses. But it’ll also have a Challenge Mode in place too. This will come complete with thirty-odd missions, as you look to speedrun stages, fight with limited ammo and go up against relentless enemy hordes. Thankfully you’ll come all perked up, equipping a couple of powers with each run.

We’re expecting to hear more regarding Contra: Operation Galuga in the weeks building up to launch. For now, hit the trailer and hold tight. Contra: Operation Galuga is coming to Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC in 2024. Early 2024, no less. It’s then when we’ll find out if it is better than Contra: Rogue Corps.
