What started as a renovation project gradually turned into a rebuild for Shane Shepherdson – and it was well worth it.

He bought this 2400sq m Stirling property at 69 Gould Rd more than a decade ago with the intention of fixing up the house that stood on it.

But after designing a more modern version, he built the stunning house that stands today for his family.

“I bought it, gutted it completely and renovated it,” he says.

“We lived here for a while – I really liked the block, I just didn’t like the house.

“As I could afford it, I built this house.”

He says it was a renovation and extension that turned into a new build.

It has four bedrooms, six bathrooms – an ensuite for each room as well as a main bathroom and one by the pool – and three double undercover parking spaces.

An open kitchen, living and dining room is at the heart of the home.

It flows seamlessly through glass sliding doors on to an outdoor entertainment area with a kitchen and a solar-heated pool, which overlooks the landscaped and manicured gardens.

While the house was a labour of love, Mr Shepherdson says the garden was his favourite feature of the property.

“The gardens, out of everything, I’ll miss most,” he says.
