I’ve always wanted to replace our stair railing but it remained at the bottom of our home renovation list. That was until we replaced the floors throughout our home and shortly after doing so I just happened to see a home listed for sale that had an incredible black metal stair railing. It was at that moment a new stair railing went from the bottom of our list to the top. Unfortunately, the seller of the home didn’t know who redid their stair railing, so my hunt for a company began.

I thought it would be easy to find a company that specialized in replacing stair railings but it was a little more complicated than I expected. Many companies were unresponsive and some didn’t do the type of work I was looking for, which quickly narrowed down my list. However, there were still 3-4 excellent candidates, so I took the next step with those select few and requested quotes.

To my surprise, it was much more affordable than I anticipated, but the quotes were all over the place. The highest quote was triple the cost of the lowest quote. But, I know firsthand the cheapest company isn’t always the best nor is the most expensive company always worth it.

So I did what I always do prior to hiring a contractor I investigated each company.

1. I noted how responsive each company was and if they were able to answer my questions.
2. I read through every single online review I could find for each company.
3. I looked at before and after pictures of their previous work.
4. I made sure they were licensed and insured.

After analyzing each company we decided to hire Michael with Modern Stair and Railing Corp. His work was exactly what I was looking for, he was responsive and had outstanding reviews.

The Process of Replacing Our Stair Railing

The process of replacing our stair railing was so much easier than I expected and Michael made it completely stress-free.

First, he came to our home to measure and confirm the type of railing we wanted. Then it took about 2-3 weeks for the railing to be fabricated. After that, Michael and his crew came out to remove our old railing and install the new one, which only took 2 days.

Overall Experience

Not only did the black metal stair railing look incredible, but the entire crew was on-time, friendly, and kept everything as clean as possible.
