The Utah Jazz and Russell Westbrook have agreed to a contract buyout following a three-team deadline-day trade that sent him to Salt Lake City. Westbrook’s buyout means he is eligible to sign with any team, as long as the two sides are in agreement on his new contract. He is now joining the Clippers on a yet-unknown deal.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported the news via Twitter on Monday.

Westbrook played for the Los Angeles Lakers from 2021 until the 2023 NBA Trade Deadline, when he was moved around to find more shooters for LeBron James’ team. Most pundits believed he would never play a game with the Jazz, which turned out to be true.

Along with a 2017 NBA MVP, Westbrook is a nine-time All Star, two-time scoring champion, three-time assists leader and has multiple seasons in which he has averaged a triple-double. In fact, he is the NBA’s all-time leader in triple-doubles. He will now join Kawhi Leonard and Paul George in an attempt to bring the Clippers their first ring.
