The Team of the Season campaign continues to plough through the top leagues in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team, with the Ligue 1 TOTS squad up next.

With Ultimate Team’s most overpowered players residing in the French league, the Ligue 1 Team of the Season squad is one of the most hotly anticipated releases of the lot.

World-class attacking trio Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr have helped PSG claim another league title this season and we will no doubt see a strong Paris contingency represented in the side.

Latest – Loading Screen Tease

The final loading screen in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team before the Ligue 1 TOTS drop has been released, revealing more details for the three players shown off the day before.

If there were any questions as to who the players were before, there shouldn’t be any now.

Lionel Messi was always going to be the Argentine ST, as the only forward player from the country in the league, and it looks like two PSG teammates join him on the loading screen.

The leaks said Renato Sanches would be the TOTS Moments player, and those stats back it up, with Kylian Mbappe the only candidate to have 99 PAC and 99 DRI!

Ligue 1 TOTS Release Date

Unlike the other major league releases, there will be no nominees and vote for the Ligue 1 TOTS side.

As confirmed via the loading screen and the updated FUT Champions Rewards Schedule published by EA, the Ligue 1 TOTS squad will be released on Friday, 26 May.

The cards will enter packs at the usual time of 1pm ET / 6pm BST, replacing the La Liga TOTS items.

They will stay in packs for one week only, being joined by the Super Lig TOTS squad on Sunday, 28 May, before the Serie A TOTS squad takes over from the Ligue 1 side on Friday, 2 June.

Predictions

With no nominees put forward for the Ligue 1 TOTS squad, here are our predictions for who will make the final cut in FIFA 23 Ultimate Team:

GK – Yehvann Diouf (OVR 89)

French wing-back Jonathan Clauss is expected to beat Moroccan superstar Achraf Hakimi to the hotly contested right-back position in the Ligue 1 TOTS.

The experienced full-back has been excellent for Marseille this season having registered nine assists in the league – the most of any defender.

CB – Kevin Danso (OVR 90)

World-class Brazilian defender Marquinhos has once again been the best centre-half in the French league and will no doubt be duly rewarded with a TOTS inclusion.

Marquinhos, who was part of the FUT 22 TOTS XI, has helped Paris Saint-Germain keep 13 clean sheets during the 2022/23 campaign so far.

LB – Caio Henrique (OVR 91)

Seko Fofana will no doubt be a popular inclusion among Ultimate Team fans as his special items are usually incredibly overpowered.

The box-to-box centre-mid has been arguably Lens’ most influential player, helping his team climb to second in the Ligue 1 table.

CM – Branco van den Boomen (OVR 89)

Neymar Jr is the first of three Paris Saint-Germain attackers in our Ligue 1 TOTS predictions, with all three stars at the top of their game this season.

Despite making just 18 starts in another injury-ridden season, the Brazilian has managed to register 13 goals and 11 assists domestically.

• Youcef Belaili

RW – Lionel Messi (OVR 98)

French forward Martin Terrier is another who has had his season ruined by injury, however, his early exploits could have secured him a place in the Ligue 1 TOTS squad, with nine goals and four assists in 16 matches.

The Stade Rennais winger already claimed the Ligue 1 POTM award back in October and could go one step further with a brilliant TOTS item.
