Proposed coal mine loses another court case

A five-year long attempt to set up a coal mine on the West Coast has suffered another legal defeat.

The Environment Court has upheld an appeal by Forest & Bird against consents earlier approved for an open-cast coal mine near Westport. The consents were sought by Stevenson Mining on behalf of Te Kuha Partnership.
