ProLogium to Build $5.6bn Battery Plant in France

Energy company ProLogium recently chose France as the location for the organization’s first large-scale solid-state battery manufacturing facility outside of Taiwan. After ProLogium narrowed down its list of preferred countries from 13 to three, the business selected Dunkirk, France to house its second so-called giga-factory, according to Reuters. 

An investment of 5.2 billion euros ($5.6 billion) to build the plant was confirmed by ProLogium at the Choose France Summit on May 15, 2023. The company says the funds will localize France’s supply chain, help with research and development activities, and enable the manufacturing of next-generation batteries in Europe.

Construction on the facility is set to begin during the second half of 2024, with factory operations scheduled to start in 2026.
