Prison officer arrested in marijuana smuggling operation – Medical Marijuana Program Connection

A prison officer has appeared in court charged with allegedly attempting to smuggle contraband into the New Amsterdam Prison in Berbice, Guyana.

According to a police report, Angelica Cameron, 32, was arrested on December 9th when her colleagues allegedly found 289 grams of cannabis in her possession.

She appeared in the New Amsterdam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Peter Hugh today where two charges of Possession of Narcotics for the Purpose of Trafficking were read to her.

She pled not guilty.

Hugh refused an application for bail and she was remanded to prison.

The matter was adjourned to December 27, 2023.
