Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) has been in the headlines for much of 2023, with Qantas and Airbus planning a Queensland production facility amid increasing calls for a domestic industry.
Virgin Atlantic has proven that aircraft can fly on 100 per cent SAF, and major airlines around the world are turning to SAF blends to reduce their carbon footprints.
But with production still low and SAF blends being more expensive than regular jet fuel, what is the best way to make sure it sees wider use?
In this Australian Aviation premium podcast recorded earlier this year, Jake Nelson speaks to Ed Mason, managing director of Jet Zero Australia, on how SAF can cut aviation emissions and the importance of producing it locally.
