The story
Global healthcare company Penumbra has launched a new virtual reality solution for mental health conditions, adding to a healthcare-focused immersive technology portfolio that began with physical rehabilitation.
The new REAL i-Series solution features a virtual reality headset with intuitive gaze navigation and exclusive experiences and activities, including REAL Connect for one-to-one real-time video and audio communication.
The experiences and activities are designed to address mental wellbeing and cognition. They include animated, interactive experiences via the Serene Lake app and 360-degree video instructor-guided and self-guided travel and nature experiences.
Together, they provide more than 10 hours of immersive content for cognitive activation, distraction therapy, reminiscence therapy, mindfulness practice and relaxation.
REAL i-Series also includes REAL Connect, which is designed to enhance immersive experiences through social connection by allowing users to share their virtual reality activities with another individual through a web-based portal.
