A survey commissioned by blockchain software firm Consensys reveals that crypto has achieved global mass awareness.

In the survey that polled 15,158 people aged between 18 to 65 years living in 15 different countries, over 90% of the respondents say they have basic knowledge of crypto.

“Overwhelming crypto awareness: 92% of participants demonstrated awareness of crypto.”

Citizens of Argentina, Brazil, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Japan, Mexico, Nigeria, South Africa, South Korea, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, the United States and Vietnam were polled for the survey.

More than a third of survey respondents say that crypto is potentially the “future of money.”

The survey also reveals that over half of the respondents expressed a desire for more ownership of the products they create on the Internet.

“50% of respondents believe they add value to the Internet, while a notable 67% believe they should own the things that they make on the internet and 70% believe that they should have a share of the profit a company makes from their data. Only 38% of respondents believe they are adequately compensated for the value and creativity they add to the Internet.”

On the issue of data privacy, the majority of the respondents say that they prefer to have more control over their digital footprint.
