Oddworld: Soulstorm is an off-the-wall platformer that sees you, as Abe, struggling to save your people.

It’s also a reimagining of Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus and a sequel to Oddworld: New ‘n Tasty, itself a remake of Oddworld: Abe’s Odyssey. Confused? We don’t blame you, but after the lacklustre performance of Oddworld: Stranger’s wrath, which sold poorly despite good reviews, it took a while for the Oddworld franchise to recover.

This time around, having freed yourself, you’re leading even more of your fellow mukodons to safety, taking the action out of New n’ Tasty’s factories and into the wider world. The game is a Sony console exclusive, meaning it won’t appear on the Xbox, instead landing on the PS5, PS4 and PC.

It has, however, launched with a couple of bugs that are in the process of being fixed. As reported by Eurogamer, reviewers have been advised that:

“There have been a few instances in our testing over the Easter weekend where Abe gets stuck in an infinite falling loop.” On the one hand, that sounds horribly annoying and inconvenient but, on the other, it’s giving us warm, fuzzy flashbacks to Jet Set Willy, a game which ate up way, way, too much of our time.

Surprisingly, Oddworld: Soulstorm is down as a Playstation Plus Day One game meaning that if you have Playstation Plus, or even if you can wangle a short trial, you should be able to play it at no extra cost.

You can check out the launch trailer below or pick up Oddworld: Soulstorm as of right now.
