Netflix’s edgy adult animated anthology is back with more love, death, and robots

A second season of Love, Death & Robots, Netflix’s adult animated anthology series, hits the streaming service in May. The first season, produced by Tim Miller (Deadpool) and David Fincher (Alien 3), was comprised of 18 short films, ranging from five to 20 minutes in length, and covering a wide gamut of topics from farmers in mechs battling alien invasions to sentient dairy taking over the world.

Netflix promised edgy, mature vibes for “messed up adults” in the lead-up to the first season, and while some of the shorts did deliver on the gratuitous sex and violence, Love Death & Robots actually offers some poignant science-fiction stories. Sure, there’s enough boobs and blood to keep those edgy adults entertained, but the strongest segments of the first season interrogated other elements with more depth.

If the trailer for this season is any indication, Love, Death & Robots may continue this trend of delivering on the hardcore NSFW elements with a splash of thought-provoking science-fiction for those who aren’t as “mature and messed up” as the target audience.

Season 2 of Love, Death & Robots arrives on Netflix on May 14. Season 3 is on the way for 2022.
