  • Prosecutors in Montenegro have three days to file an appeal of the court’s decision.
  • The court has ordered them to remain at the apartment location supplied by their attorney.

A lawyer for Terra co-founder Do Kwon and former CFO Han Chang-joon said on Friday that their bail request had been granted for a second time by the Montenegro Basic Court. Prosecutors in Montenegro have three days to file an appeal of the court’s decision.

Montenegro Basic Court has once again authorized bail for Terra co-founder Do Kwon and CTO Han Chang-joon at 400,000 Euros ($436,000) each, as revealed by lawyer Branko Andelic. On May 24th, a Montenegrin high court overturned a lower court’s decision to issue bail for offenders totaling 800,000 Euro. So that they may mount a proper defense against the allegations of document forgery, Judge Ivana Beci has decided to release Do Kwon and Han Chang-joon once again.

Monitoring and Appearances

Until their passport fabrication case is resolved, the court has ordered them to remain at the apartment location supplied by their attorney, Branko Andelic. They have to cooperate with court orders like monitoring and appearances.

Moreover, the Basic Court considered the nature of the crime, the defendant’s personal and family circumstances, and the ability of the potential bond sureties to pay. Since Do Kwon’s attorney said the passports to Costa Rica were acquired legitimately, the court will also verify the legitimacy of other travel papers and identification cards.

The bail money will be added to the court’s budget if the offenders flee or break the restrictions set by the court. It should be noted that Do Kwon will only be extradited to South Korea or the United States after he has completed serving his term in Montenegro.
