MLB The Show 21 has been a home run since launch, and it really shows in the Road to the Show (RTTS) game mode.

Latest – Game Update 5 Brings RTTS Improvements

The latest MLB The Show 21 patch, Game Update 5, brings some very welcomed RTTS improvements and changes.

Read over these changes below, and the full patch notes here.

  • Fixed an issue where attributes from equipment were not being applied in game
  • Fixed an issue that would prevent stat earnings from archetype missions
  • Fixed a bug where it would show the user’s position for the next game as “Pinch Hitter”
  • The correct stats will now display in the Rookie of the Year award
  • Fixed an issue where a CPU outfielder would stop and not react to an oncoming ball
  • User will no longer be only a bench player when called to the MLB
  • Fixed OSD text for RTTS championship wins to address minor league name changes

How to Create Your Ballplayer

The first thing you’ll need to do in MLB The Show 21 to prepare for Road to the Show is create your custom Ballplayer.

CREATE-A-PLAYER: Make whoever you want for MLB The Show 21

This new version of create-a-player will allow you to customize appearance and other details about your Ballplayer, but it’s important to note they’ll be in more than just Road to the Show.

You’ll also be able to take your Ballplayer into Diamond Dynasty for the first time once they’re ready to beef up your Ultimate Team.

Choose Your Team

When you start a new Road to the Show in MLB The Show 21, the first decision you make will have to do with which team you’re drafted by.

Whether you’re interested in choosing your favorite team or just letting the game pick one or a type of club for you, the first dialogue decisions you make will affect where your Ballplayer ends up.

PICK YOUR CLUB: You can decide who drafts your Ballplayer

You may have to follow the dialogue tree with a few extra answers if your advisor doesn’t guess the team right away, but be specific and you’ll get to choose your exact team.

How to be a Two-Way player

One of the new facets of Road to the Show in MLB The Show 21 is the option to be a true two-way player that is not just a position player or a pitcher.

BEST OF BOTH WORLDS: You don’t have to stay in one role

Instead you can get the best of both worlds and make sure you’re batting and in the field as well as pitching, but this isn’t a requirement.

When prompted about being a two-way player, you can choose a dialogue option that declines and states you’d prefer to focus on one position only.

Choosing Your Position in Road to the Show

In the same way that Road to the Show gives you the option to choose your team and whether you want to be a two-way player, you can also pick your specific position.

POSITION PLAY: You can decide exactly what position you want to play

Pay attention to the dialogue options early in the game when speaking to your team manager, and you’ll be able specify exactly which position you’d like to play.

You can also leave things open-ended and let the game play for you, but the dialogue options will signify this and your replies will affect the position you end up with.

Loadouts in MLB The Show 21

One of the new additions to MLB The Show 21 is loadouts, and they play a crucial role in Road to the Show.

BALLPLAYER BOOSTS: Loadouts will beef up your skills and attributes

Loadouts allow you to choose specific archetype items and perks that will give your Ballplayer temporary boosts to individual stats or skills.

How you pick your loadout will entirely depend on what kind of player you’re using, as most are specific to position and playstyle.
