Konami’s remakes of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater and Silent Hill 2 are coming to PlayStation 5 this year, according to a new hype reel released by Sony Interactive Entertainment on Thursday. Neither game had a confirmed release window from publisher Konami, but it appears both projects are now confirmed to arrive in 2024.

The new version of Snake Eater, known as Metal Gear Solid Delta, is said by Konami to be a “faithful recreation of the original story and game design,” that will “[evolve] the gameplay with stunning visuals and a seamless user experience.” Konami also boasts “unprecedented graphics and immersive sound” for Metal Gear Solid Delta, and based on early footage of the remake, it’s certainly visually impressive.

In addition to a PS5 version, Metal Gear Solid Delta is also bound for Windows PC and Xbox Series X. 2024 will mark the 20th anniversary of Metal Gear Solid 3’s original release on PlayStation 2.

Silent Hill 2 is being remade by developer Bloober Team, the studio behind The Medium and the Layers of Fear games. Bloober Team creative director and lead designer Mateusz Lenart said in 2022 that the studio’s remake will “preserve the atmosphere that made Silent Hill 2 so exceptional, while also modernizing many aspects of the game’s overall gameplay.”

The Silent Hill 2 remake is a timed PlayStation 5 exclusive. A PC version is also in the works.

Konami has a wide swath of Silent Hill projects in the works, including new games from NeoBards (Silent Hill f) and Annapurna Interactive and No Code (Silent Hill: Townfall), as well the ongoing interactive experiment Silent Hill: Ascension and new movie Return to Silent Hill. Release dates for those other unreleased projects are unknown.
